The funky up-tempo rock sound of Giantkiller first broke on the Middlesborough scene in 1977. After succesful appearances at Middlesborough Rock Garden and a hectic schedule playing throughout the north-east and sometimes further afield – mostly at secular venues – they made a big impression at Greenbelt ’78 and in the same year were given a featured spot on Anne Nightingale’s Radio show. now with a recording contract with Kingsway Music and a first album due in April 1980. Giantkiller seems set for more success.

The line-up of this four-piece band is Pete Gilgan, lead guitar and vocals – Richard Nichlson , bass guitar and vocals – Paul Hersbt, keyboards and vocals – Steve Purton, drums.

Well aware of the possible dangers arising out of the excesses of much New Wave sytle music. Giantkiller seek to temper theat aggression by presenting something of ‘God’s alternative society’
